Larry Sultan Memorial!

The Photography Program at the California College of the Arts is hosting a pin-up show in honor of our colleague and mentor for many, Larry Sultan, and you are invited to participate.

Larry passed away at his home on December 13th after a brief struggle with cancer. Larry's influence and importance as a teacher and artist is monumental, he is deeply missed. Please see this link for more information on his career and passing: http://www.cca.edu/about/press/2009/larry-sultan-longtime-cca-faculty-member-dies-63

This show will just be one of several things that we hope to host in Larry's honor. It is a way for us to mark his passing and his enormous contributions and come together as a community. The show is somewhat informal and open to all participants, please feel free to forward this information. You can contribute an image, an object, a letter, text, really anything you think is appropriate. The show will be an evolving installation in the Oliver Art Center on the Oakland campus from January 11-17th 2010.

Here are several ways you can contribute:

1. Mail something that will arrive by Wednesday January 14th at the latest, sooner is better.
If you want your contribution returned to you please provide a SASE. Please include your name and an email address and/or phone number with your submission.

GOT SPEED?

Canon announces today the new EOS 1D Mark IV. This newest member of the EOS digital line-up, pricing just under $5000 features 16.1 MP APS-H CMOS 1.3 crop sensor. The dual digic 4 processors helps boost the continuous shooting speed to a 10 fps rate.

The 1D M IV also features a completely redesigned AI servo II af system. The af system gives you 39 cross type points and 45 manually to give you better focus coverage for those quick moving subjects (hopefully better than the 1D Mark III)!

The Mark IV is also featuring the 3" LCD display, Live View mode, 100% viewfinder coverage, 1080 HD video and a vast ISO range from 100-12,800.
